Still Working Out Issues

I am sorry for the delays but honestly while Blogger hosting is free sometimes you can run into issues. So on that note please understand I am working with Blogger support to determine why my page often goes down unexpectedly.  If we cannot resolve these issues this time around then I will have to move to a hosted service. Thank you so much for your patience!

Heads Up: Coming soon a review of the Get To Work Book

I just want to let everyone know that later this month I will be reviewing my very own copy of the Get To Work Book!  I am so excited and can't wait to receive it.  While I am primarily a paper crafter I have always been a planner enthusiast. This one has several features I find wonderful so stay tuned for more in late September when the January - December 2016 edition begins shipping. My review date will depend on the timing of my shipment so stay tuned.

I have updated my social profile icons.  I am sorry for any inconvenience caused by them not working.   You will find that the Facebook icon will now direct you to my Facebook page, however my twitter account and Instagram feeds are both private.  If you would like to follow me please submit a request and I will approve those on an individual basis.  Thank you for taking the time to visit, and please be patient as I attempt to unify my social profiles so that my private feeds are separate from my blog account feeds.

National Dog Day ~ A post for our faithful companions

Yesterday as many of you know was National Dog Day.  Our own family dog, Rosie, is a pure bred tricolor Beagle I received from my sister for my daughter Alexaundra.  She loves treats and will do just about anything for them.  So I created this cute little dog house filled with her favorites using my Silhouette Cameo, sketch pens, and tempera paint for my daughter to give to her a few at a time.  Talk about one happy puppy!!

Tooth Fairy Gift Bag - 2015

My daughter recently lost her two front teeth, and I felt it was worthy of a little extra this time around. I will admit though I usually make a big deal out of just about any occasion. To see her smile is worth more than gold, so here is this years Tooth Fairy Gift.

Shake It Off - Then Keep Moving

Well I am not really one for staying down when I take a hit, but this week has been an incredibly tough one for me as I honestly I thought I had seen all that people had the ability to do to one another and yet still more.  I won't get into details, but I can tell you this, if you miss me for a bit I am just taking a bit of time to "Shake It Off" as Taylor would say. LOL  Can I get a high five from those who have been there!

Truer words have never been spoken. Let's remember Memorial Day for why and for whom it was created! Our soldiers. Also, let us not forget those who stand by and worry while they fight, their families. May God bless and protect them!

Prayers Please

Tonight I am posting from my mom's hospital room. She will be eighty this coming May. Right now we don't know exactly what's wrong, but I am asking for prayers this evening. While we may not know what's wrong God does. Thank you.

Exploring Nature

When my husband and I were first married we enjoyed hiking and cave exploring. These are three layouts from our trips to Longhorn and Natural Bridge Caverns.

I created these digital layouts in Photoshop so that the photo mats color could be taken from the photo itself, thus ensuring a perfect match. I then took the RBG color values and cross checked them against popular card stock manufacturers so that when I reproduced the layouts using card stock the look would remain the same. The results were eye catching.

Valentine's Treat Bags with Bakers Twine Embellishments

Hi there, I am thrilled to be featured on The Twinery blog today!  My daughter is in the first grade this year and I wanted to create something special for her and her classmates.  Each child will receive a treat bag like the one pictured above filled with iced sugar cookies and embellished with a die cut heart and bakers twine from The Twinery.

As you can see the bag itself is made from a light brown stock, and stamped with small hearts.  I die cut the bright pink heart from Core'dinations Cardstock in the color Primrose Petals made by Stampin' Up! using my Silhouette Cameo electronic die cut machine.  I then stitched the heart using one strand from a length of Blossom Solid Bakers Twine and adhered it to the treat bag using mini glue dots.

The Happy Valentine's Day tag was created using my home inkjet printer and white stock.  I then ran that stock through my Silhouette Cameo and die cut each tag.  Once cut, the tags were embellished with a silver eyelet and attached to the heart using a mini clothespin made by Celebrate It.  The mini clothespin is embellished with a bow made from a length of Strawberry Bakers Twine.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy the project!  I will be posting a step by step how-to here on Kat Creates in a day or two so please check back for the download!

A Favorite Quote

I am creating on my iPad tonight as my Ohotoshop is acting quirky on my laptop this evening. I have seen this quote a lot lately and it is one of my favorites. I hope to have it printed for my studio wall soon. Please enjoy.
